Pharmacy First

Expert care right on your doorstep

Feeling unwell but can't get a GP appointment? You may not need one. Through the NHS Pharmacy First service, our trained pharmacists at Stalbridge Pharmacy can assess, advise and where appropriate, treat a range of common conditions, all without a referral or an appointment. It's free, it's fast, and it's right here in the heart of Stalbridge.

For many everyday illnesses, your pharmacist is the right first port of call. You can phone ahead, speak to us in a private consultation room, and in most cases leave the same day with a clear plan and, if it's clinically needed, the right medicine. If your symptoms point to something that needs a doctor, we'll make sure you're referred on to the right place.

Each condition has its own NHS age and eligibility criteria. If you're not sure whether it applies to you, just ask, we're happy to check.

How it works

  • Step 1: Get in touch, walk in or call us. No appointment or GP referral is needed for the seven conditions above.

  • Step 2: Private consultation We'll talk through your symptoms in our private consultation room and carry out any checks needed.

  • Step 3: Assessment Our pharmacist follows an NHS-approved clinical pathway for your condition to decide the safest course of action.

  • Step 4: Treatment or referral If it's suitable, we'll provide treatment or an NHS prescription. If you need a GP or further care, we'll refer you on. The whole visit usually takes around 15 to 20 minutes.
